Something that saddens me is that I really can't think of anything that would be considered Canadian food. Besides "Canadian bacon" and moose meat, I don't really know if Canada has something that we can call our own. The US has New York fries, A&W (All American Food) hamburgers, Chicago style pizza, ball park hot dogs, Kentucky Fried chicken, New Orleans cajun cooking. And other countries seem to have their own special dish: Mexican tacos, Greek Gyros and Chinese egg rolls. What is "Canadian bacon" anyway? Isn't it just glorifed pig? Help me out here!

So.. you got me there Barry, had to do some digging about that one. Cause I was thinking to myself we Don't have our own cooking style. Obviously we invented the best way to cook seafood.. that goes without saying, and we cook things like fish cakes, etc. etc. But here are some other things i thought of..
Tortiere
Rawpier pie (sp?)
Nanaimo Bars
Perogies (probably from Ukraine but we have mastered the art)
Poutine
French Onion Soup
It appears mostly the french influence has gotten through for us Canadians, but we are so closely tied to the UK that we must have just brought over our recipies with us. I mean why change a good thing :)
BUT i did think of some products we have here that the US don't have (correct me if i'm wrong)
Red Rose Tea
Tim Hortons Coffee
Our VAST selection of Chocolate bars unknown to the US
Shreddies
Corn Pops
and DULSE
Just some thoughts
Canadian food...
Like yellow snow?
THought of another "canadian" snack food - Ringlos.. Don't believe they have them in the US.
